Porpax jerdoniana (Wight ) Rolfe
Porpax jerdoniana (Wight ) Rolfe growing on a tree
This orchid loves deep shade with dampness. Seen near the waterfalls or streams in deep rain forests...The dark purple color of the leaves match that of the bark of the tree, thus giving them a natural camouflage .. Not easily spotted...Not a commonly seen orchid...Blooms in July ..Aug... I found them at an altitude of around 100-150m above MSL...
Nice to see you post after a very long time. That's a very nice shot of such a small orchid. Did you shoot it when you visited this time. It would be nice if you could add the blooming period.
ReplyDeleteHi Prejith,
ReplyDeleteYou are right.. this was collected during my last vacation in August ... I'll edit the post to include the blooming season as well..It seems an easy orchid to keep too...Thanks a lot..
